A New Six Bed Home for Residents with Learning Disabilities has Benefited from Steel Railings and Handrail from Alpha Rail.

The new building, which has been funded by Elizabeth Fitzroy Support, replaces an old day centre in the ground of Huws Care Home, a substantial Victorian building. The care home comprises single bedrooms with ensuite facilities, plus shared living, dining and kitchen areas, which are situated on the ground floor.

The home, which caters for people under 65 with learning disabilities and medical problems, has been supplied with 29 metres of 950mm high bowtop fencing and 94 metres of single handrail, as well as 34 metres of 900mm high handrail.

Cowan Architects of East Grinstead in West Sussex, specified the railings, which were supplied fully galvanised and were painted green on site by Alpha Rail.

The new railings provide handrail for service users and visitors alongside the steps which border the grounds to the care home. Residents will soon be moving into the new care home, which will allow refurbishment of the main building, later this year. Plans are in place for this to be supplied with the same style of galvanised rail and handrail by Alpha Rail.

Gail Brooks from Cowan Architects said: “This is the first time we have worked with Alpha Rail and are pleased with the quality of the products and the service they provide. Even when we required changes to the specification, they have been accommodating and supplied us with a final product which met the project’s needs exactly. We hope to use the railings on other projects in the future.”
