The Greater Manchester Metrolink tram network is undergoing a £1.4bn expansion with new lines planned to open to Wythenshawe and Manchester Airport, and through Oldham and Rochdale town centres
Having previously supplied pedestrian guardrail for locations along the Metrolink route, Alpha Rail was appointed by Laing O’Rourke to provide over 800m of decorative pedestrian guardrail for the latest extension to the network through Oldham and Rochdale.
For this project, decorative guardrail was supplied to ensure pedestrians are guided along safe pathways and to designated crossing places. The pedestrian guardrail supplied was galvanised and powder coated to ensure longevity of life. As some of the guardrail would be used in popular locations it was important the presence of the guardrail did not to spoil the visual appearance of the town centre. To ensure this, it was requested that the pedestrian guardrail supplied was polyester powder coated green RAL colour 6009.
