On average there are about 200,000 reported road casualties every year on the UK. Back in the 1970’s this figure was as high as 370,000, proving that the installation of pedestrian guardrail aided a reduction in injuries.

Experts have stated that most of these accidents are down to human error and can be avoided if care is taken. Whilst improved education and other safety improvements have had a considerable impact, Alpha Rail believes that the use of road rails and pedestrian guard rail have also played a key role in helping to reduce this figure. The basic function of pedestrian guardrail is to guide pedestrians to safe crossing points and Alpha Rail believes there is yet more that can be achieved to reduce the number of reported casualties even further.
