Sitting on his sofa recently watching the latest Christmas advert to appear on our TV screens, our estimator Paul Johnson spotted the bow top railings Alpha Rail supplied for a project we completed in 2001 for a North West based civil engineering company called George Cox and Sons.
If you view the Morrisons Christmas advert at around 30 seconds, it shows our special bow top railing looking spectacularly festive all covered in snow. In total, we manufactured and installed 220m of metal railings and 50 standard leaf gates for Anita Street in an area of Manchester called Ancoats.
Ancoats is listed on the visit Manchester website as the number 1 top Industrial heritage site to visit in Manchester.
The impressive mills and complexes that remain in Manchester’s former industrial heartland provide a potent reminder of times gone by.
Ancoats was once known as the ‘workshop of the world’. Many of its mills were involved in spinning cotton but it also boasted an important glass industry and a number of chemical works. Anita Street was originally called Sanitary Street because of its purpose-built, hygienic workers houses.Tags: metal railings
