On 3 April 2015, Alpha Rail celebrated its 30th anniversary. As a manufacturer of metal railings, gates and pedestrian guardrail we are really proud that over 25 members of our 40 strong team of technicians, metal fabricators, installers and support staff, have been with the company for 20 years or more.
Even more, impressive is that the five team members have been with Alpha Rail since the company was founded in 1985.
We interviewed each of them to get their views on how things have changed over the last thirty years.
Gary Morris – General Manager
A former toolmaker and quality inspector, Gary’s career at Alpha Rail began as a young and eager 25 year old. He is modest about the fact that not much has changed about the actual production process. Machines are newer, technology has impacted on the design drawings and there is a greater emphasis on health and safety, but same commitment to high quality has remained as a priority for everyone involved. The biggest change, in his view, is that management is more supportive.
Gary’s role as General Manager means he oversees all the manufacturing and production processes to ensure that what leaves the factory meets the design specification, quality control procedures and is delivered to exactly where it needs to be on time. Every job that goes through the factory gives Gary and the team a real sense of pride, based on the fact jobs go out and don’t come back which means customers are happy and willing to use Alpha Rail again on future projects.
A family man, Gary has seven children and is proud to have supported them all through University.
