Located a stones throw from the iconic Wembley Stadium, Elsley Primary School provides a beautiful contrast between the hustle and bustle of London and a quiet residential setting perfect for educating the next generation.
As part of a government funded initiative, £150 million has been allocated to improve the provision of physical education and sport in primary schools.
This initiative has enabled Elsley Primary School to access funding to build the sports facilities that now enable them to fulfil their requirement to provide a rigorous PE program.
Working on behalf of LBC UK Ltd, the nominated main contractor on this project, Alpha Rail has manufactured and installed handrails for a stairwell leading to new sports pitches.
In order to comply with safety regulations, we supplied two 5-metre-long 900mm high balustrade handrails that were mounted either side of stairs leading up to the new facilities.
The hand rails were manufactured from 48 diameter circular hollow section (CHS) steel tubing, with upright mounting posts core drilled into step risers. All metalwork was supplied galvanized and polyester powder coated green, RAL 6005 Moss Green to match the colour of perimeter fencing installed around the sports pitches. The smooth finish of the hand rail ensured that children would not risk injury or entrapment of hands.
Commenting on the project, Sales Director, Phil Ball said, “This is the first time that Alpha Rail has worked with LBC UK Ltd. The project involved manufacturing a bespoke piece of metalwork that required the use of a specialist pipe bending machine that makes it possible for us to curve CHS tubing into any shape.”
Elsley Primary School now has modern sports facilities that can be safely accessed via the steps with the aid of a fully compliant set of hand rails.
