Eddie has been a part of Alpha Rail since 1988, starting as an addition to the specials department back when much of our work was standard. During his time, he progressed through the ranks to become workshop supervisor.
At Alpha Rail, Eddie has covered most aspects of the job, including welding, machine operating and site installation. His experience has become invaluable and his role as supervisor has allowed him to pass down his knowledge to the other members of the workforce.
He was heavily involved in the preparation of our brand new manufacturing facility, spending several weeks with a small team of men carrying out demolition in the initial stages through to decoration just before the move from our old site at Urban Road, which had been our base of operations since 1985.
In his spare time, Eddie has always been a keen motorcycle enthusiast and gardener, and will continue to pursue these pastimes during his retirement.
Managing Director Steve Shirley said, “Eddie was admired for his no-nonsense, hands-on approach and his work ethic is second to none. We wish him all the best and hope he enjoys his well-deserved retirement.”
On his final day, Eddie commented “Work, like everything, has its ups and downs, but these past 30 years with Alpha Rail have been amazing – everyone here has made each day a varied and enjoyable experience. It has been great to be a part of Alpha Rail and watch it grow and develop as a business, and I wish them continued success in the future.”
