Metal railings manufactured by Alpha Rail have been installed at the newly built Fish Island Village sales and marketing suite in Hackney Wick, London.

The new Fish Island Village development will comprise of 434 private apartments, 146 affordable homes and 57,000 square feet of commercial space, creating workspace facilities for 500 people from the local community. Each of the one, two, three and four bedroom apartments and maisonettes will be located around a series of landscaped piazzas and courtyards, which are designed to create vibrant and thriving communal areas.

Situated in an area famous for its independent cafes, bars and warehouse pop up art galleries, Fish Island Village was designed and built with the local industrial heritage and architecture in mind.

This section of the unique Fish Island Village development was designed by Haworth Tompkins Architects and built in a joint venture between Hill and Peabody. The aim was to create a vibrant canalside community perfect for budding entrepreneurs looking to relocate their business or for homeowners looking for a unique place to live.

So far Alpha Rail has manufactured 100 linear metres of 1500mm high vertical bar metal railings which have been installed around the frontage of the show home development, located on the river front basin. The railings not only provide an attractive entrance feature for the show home, but also provide a protective barrier from the water’s edge.

Alpha Rail will manufacture a number of different gates and install further railings as the project progresses to provide secure access to the new dwellings.

All metalwork provided was supplied hot dipped galvanised and polyester powder coated RAL 7021 Black/Grey.

In addition, because cycling is such a popular mode of transport, Alpha Rail has manufactured five Sheffield Cycle Stands. The stands were supplied galvanised and set into concrete foundations.

Liam Kelly, Senior Site Manager at the Hill Group said “Fish Island Village is a unique development in the heart of a busy London borough. The service Alpha Rail has provided was incredibly professional and very time efficient, especially with so many contractors on site and working to a tight time deadline”

Commenting on behalf of Alpha Rail, Sales Director, Phil Ball added “For this project there was a real focus on wanting to retain the features of the areas industrial heritage. I’m very proud that the metal railings and gates supplied by Alpha Rail captured the initial design brief perfectly and have provided a perfect show home setting. We look forward to our continued involvement as the development progresses.”
