Bow Top Metal Railings manufactured by Alpha Rail have been installed along the front perimeter entrance of the Scout Headquarters of the 2nd Mortlake Scout Group as part of a £100k renovation project.

Located in the London Borough of Richmond Upon Thames, the 2nd Mortlake Scout Group was originally formed in 1919 after the end of World War One.

The 2nd Mortlake Scout Group has been developing young children for almost 100 years and caters for children between the ages of 6 and 14 who join the group through their Beaver, Cubs and Scout sections.

The Scout Headquarters building had become run down in recent years and required a number of renovations. These involved removing and replacing the roof, re-decoration of the interior, as well as replacing other metal railings which surrounded the building. The whole project has been valued at £100k by main contractors Broadland Construction.

Bow Top Railings

Alpha Rail was instructed by Broadland Construction to design, manufacture and install bespoke metal railings to help improve the aesthetics of the Scout Headquarters and provide a secure boundary to the building.

After conducting a thorough site survey to take precise measurements of the landscape, we supplied 32 meters of 1300mm high bow top metal railings. These were installed on top of low height retaining walls surrounding the property.

In addition to this, one single leaf gate and two double leaf gates were manufactured and installed at strategic points around the buildings perimeter to provide safe access in and out of the building as well as prevent children from wandering out on the to the busy main road.

All metalwork provided for the Scout Headquarter renovation works was supplied galvanised and polyester powder coated RAL 6005 Moss Green.

Commenting on behalf of Broadland Construction, Managing Director, Kevin Cotton said “We are very happy with Alpha Rail’s performance on this project. The bow top metal railings and bespoke gates were installed in a timely manner and finished to the highest of standards. We will be in touch again on future projects that require bespoke architectural metalwork.”
