Project Overview

Alpha Rail has recently completed a metal railings project on a sustainable housing development in Newark, known as Parsons Mount. The development consists of 22 apartments that are designed to be as energy efficient as possible and be easily accessible by those with disabilities or limited mobility. The site also contains a refurbished listed building which will serve as accommodation for the warden as well as communal facilities.

The apartment buildings meet the Level 4 criteria for the Code for Sustainable Homes, which is an environmental assessment method for rating and certifying the performance of new homes. It covers categories such as CO2emissions, waste and pollution.

Alpha Rail Solution

In total, Alpha Rail supplied and installed 80 linear metres of vertical bar railings at different heights and making use of varying fixing methods. This included both 1800mm and 1400mm high railings, which were fixed using base plates, and in some areas, they were rooted into the ground. All vertical bar metalwork was galvanised as standard followed by a polyester powder coat in a standard colour of RAL9005 jet black.

The new railings will secure the development, and act as a deterrent to those who may want to get on to the site unauthorised. In terms of access, a new automated vehicle gate was supplied and installed by others, which will allow people to use the buzzer and access the car park in order to visit residents.

"With Parsons Mount being a popular project that has previously been shortlisted for awards, we wanted to provide metalwork that is up to the standards of the rest of the development. Our standard vertical bar metal railings have been the perfect solution as they fit in very well with the overall contemporary style of the development."
