Harrier Park Development Scheme, Hucknall

Location:

Hucknall, Nottinghamshire

Project Overview

A new access road featuring pedestrian guardrail was required for the newly built business park in Hucknall, Nottinghamshire.

Located just off the A611, the access road will act as the main entrance for the new Harrier Park development for vehicles accessing the Rolls-Royce site.

Supported by Nottinghamshire County Council the link road will be funded from their capital programme, ensuring that the scheme was viable and enabling the development to maximise the community benefits from the wider development. The overall development scheme will create over 2000 jobs and includes 900 homes, a primary school, a care home, green space and other community facilities.

Galliford Try has been appointed as the main contractor for the project and will work in partnership with Rolls Royce, Muse Developments, Nottingham City and Ashfield District Council.

Alpha Rail Solution

In order to provide a safe access route into the Harrier Park development, Alpha Rail was asked to manufacture and supply 33 linear metres of Optirail V2 Pedestrian Guardrail which is a staggered bar system with optimum sight angle of 2.5 to 5 degrees, for use on straight roads moderate to high speeds.

Alpha Rail specifically developed the Optirail™ high visibility guardrail system to improve the inter-visibility of pedestrian guardrail and deliver the optimum in safety and visibility options to the highways planner.

"Pedestrian guardrail is one of Alpha Rail’s most popular products, which is why we keep all models in our core range in stock for a fast turnaround time. We are one of the leading manufacturers of pedestrian guardrail in the UK and are the preferred supplier to many local authorities and leading building and civil engineering companies. We are delighted to be involved in this project and look forward to its final completion later this year."
