Project Overview

A new community garden was being planned as a result of a partnership between Stoke-on-Trent City Council, Staffordshire Housing Association and the local residents association, Stokevill Residents. The aim was to regenerate a green space in the area and create a focal point for the community to enjoy.

Alpha Rail Solution

Alpha Rail were commissioned by landscape contractors Jack Moody to manufacture and supply a decorative archways with vertical bar railings that would run either side of the arch to form an attractive entrance feature to the new park.

We were provided with a design by the architect that specified the exact dimensions for an Art Nouveau style arch, featuring a motif that reflected the style produced by the world-renowned tile manufacturer, Minton Hollins, a local company which was founded in 1895 and located on the same road in Stoke. The design reflected the City’s cultural heritage and helped instill a sense of pride to the area.

Alpha Rail fabricated bespoke metalwork architecture for the intricate design of motif from mild galvanised steel which created a stunning centrepiece for the archway.

The decorative arch replaced a high stone boundary wall, which was taken down and lowered in places to enable residents to access the community garden. The area now provides a focal point and a gateway to Stoke town, creating a positive first impression for people coming into the area.
