Home of Compassion, in Thames Ditton, Surrey was built circa 1786 for the Hon. Charlotte Boyle Walsingham. It was granted Grade II status in 1953 because of the intactness of its brickwork frontage and some of the interiors were rare examples of 18th and 19th century fittings including staircases, scagliola columns, marble fireplaces and cornices.
The impressive Grade II mansion is now owned by Caring Homes Group and in 2016 was restored and extended to create a flagship nursing and residential home.
Building contractors MP Brothers Limited appointed Alpha Rail to manufacture and install interlaced bow topped railings.
In total we supplied 84 linear metres of 1200mm high and 143 linear metres of 1500mm high interlaced bow top railings. The centre mounting pillars featured a round ball finial and were set into concrete foundations on either paved areas or into flower beds and grassed areas.
In order to maintain the landscape and building aesthetics the metal railings were galvanised and polyester powder coated moss green RAL 6005.
A key feature of the building exterior is a small lake. To provide a protective barrier between the water and residents who may be taking a walk in the tranquility of the gardens railings were installed around the perimeter. Railings also lined walkways and flower beds and we also supplied four single leaf gates.
